Shake Media Hub was built on a single promise: to tell you the truth about what goes into the products you bring into your home, your body, and your life. That promise does not change because a brand pays us. Ever.
What is an affiliate link?
Some of the links on Shake Media Hub are affiliate links. This means that if you click a link and go on to purchase a product, we may receive a small commission from the brand or retailer — at absolutely no extra cost to you. The price you pay is exactly the same whether you use our link or go directly to the brand’s website.
Affiliate commissions are one of the ways Shake Media Hub funds its editorial research, website operations, and the time it takes to dig into ingredient lists, material safety data, and supply chain credentials so you don’t have to.
Does this affect our recommendations?
No. Full stop. Every brand featured on Shake Media Hub is chosen on editorial merit first. We research materials, ingredients, sourcing, animal welfare standards, and environmental impact before a brand earns a place on these pages. The existence of an affiliate programme — or the absence of one — does not move a brand up or down our list. If a brand we love has no affiliate programme, we still feature them. If a brand with a generous commission rate doesn’t meet our standards, they don’t appear here.
Our editorial positions — on fluoride, PFAS coatings, microplastics, animal cruelty, and synthetic fragrance — exist independently of any commercial relationship. We call things out because the evidence supports it, not because it benefits us financially.
Which affiliate programmes do we participate in?
We currently work with affiliate programmes operated directly by the brands featured on our pages, as well as through the following affiliate networks:

- Amazon Associates (where applicable)
This list is updated as our partnerships grow. Not every link on Shake Media Hub is an affiliate link — many are included purely because they are the best option for you, regardless of any commercial arrangement.
The Aligned Hub — brand listings
Shake Media Hub also operates the ShakeHub Directory (the Aligned Hub), where conscious brands can apply for a paid listing. Brands that appear in the directory have met our editorial criteria and have entered into a commercial listing agreement with Shake Media Hub. Their listing tier and commercial arrangement are separate from any affiliate relationship.
A paid listing does not guarantee positive editorial coverage, and editorial coverage does not require a paid listing. These are two separate things and we keep them that way.
South African & international compliance
This disclosure is made in accordance with the South African Advertising Regulatory Board (ARB) guidelines on sponsored and affiliate content, the United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Endorsement Guides, and the UK Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP) Code — as Shake Media Hub content is accessed by readers in multiple jurisdictions.
In plain language: we are required by law to tell you when we have a financial relationship with a brand whose products we discuss. This page, and the disclosure notice that appears across our site, fulfils that requirement. We would tell you anyway — it is simply the right thing to do.
